Ciocanu Village is one of the first three localities in the country located at the highest altitude,apx 1200 m altitude.Is apx 7,5 km (4,5 km to Sirnea and other 3 km till Ciocanu Village) distance,from DN73 Brasov-Campulung-Pitesti. Area bears the name of Rucar-Bran Pass.
Extemly spectacular and characteristic is the fact that from some places of Ciocanu Village may admire the whole splendor of Bucegi Massif and Stone of the King Massif. It's an absolute dream landscape.
From an administrative point of view Ciocanu Village belongs to Dambovicioara locality and not Sirnea or Fundata how you be tempted to belive and when i say this i refer only to the location of this "home vacation" because other houses in the village belong to Fundata.
The road that passes in front of the house is called "Drumul Liniei"(Way line) or "In line" because separating Brasov county of Arges county.So your home vacation lies in Arges county but the power pillars across the street and the drinking water pipeline belong to Brasov county.
Ciocanu village among the first place in the area Bran Moeciu style(and perhaps in the country) was not touched by the "great collectivization" brought by the communists regime.So that after 1990 Ciocanu Village were among the few in Romania with land and property left intact in the comunists time,as they have inherited before the Second World War. Informations which i have indicates that there is somehow Ciocanu village before 1900. The ability of the authentic villagers of Ciocanu place was the care for sheep an cows.As every step you can see the cattle bridge with plenty of dry grass mowing in the summer. This sheds house the cows in the winter for the villagers to stop the hay to stable in the village.
Village elders Ciocanu, say that very close to where the "home cacation"is located,crossed the border Austro-Hungarian Empire with the romanian country or Wallachia as saying then.Such a history has a say which is said to have been just a point of order on the border. Also, in the same area you can see some mesh drawn( drawn eyes) od stones made from some other,so that you do not need the historical vocation to swear that in old days there were nests of machine gun especially if you account for their strategic position in the area.
I was surprised to see that the property/ pastures that were bounded by stone fences collected from properties defined,pastures were either a ridge of mountain full of rocks and trees.Perhaps that was only meant to resist demarcation in time.
Beauty of Ciocanu Village(outside the wonderful beauty of the landscape)is that the settlement houses made relatively large distance from each other which offers full privacy,this if we compare the village with other villages from Baragan Field,eg. But if all we talk about beauty site are liable to talk bit and the intensity and harshness of the seasons.Winter for example in some areas of the village needs plugaway and if you have a good car with full traction and chains can go there. sometime the only alternative is the sladge,although blizzard when the snow is very powerful, making access impossible even with the sledge.
But admit that these situations are still excellent title.
In summer because the village is on the corridor Bran Rucar, flat i July,when the sun is scorching and sitting in shirt,often happens,especially when the sun comes in the clouds and the wind begins to beat you feel the cold bite. Is the time when you need quickly sweater or jacket.Is the sign which the nature give and it will be translated like this: Watch! you are on a mountain peak at an altitude of 1200 meters,respect nature and especially be properly equipped.
Even is summer,ideal is not to miss your mountain boots and some equipment designed to protect you from wind and rain.In compensation with the rough season you get part of the most clean and pure air you can breathe in an area with zero pollution.
Is impossible not to feel the difference especially if you come from a polluted city like Bucharest.Tissue oxygenation is otherwise at 1200 altitude,in Ciocanu village,at your "home vacation",testimony are sensations that can be lived by men when they wake up in the morning,able to break...mountains...!!
